VC

Spirit score data is being crunched. In the meantime, here are some fun updates for y’all:

The items listed in VC Ultimate’s online store for the PVI has been updated to include all teams, including the ones that joined the tournament too close to the event to make the original gear run. Make sure to place your order before the deadline of May 22nd!

Also, if you’re interested in ordering a PVI2022 hoodie, please fill out this interest form before the May 18th deadline. VC needs to know if they’ll hit the 25 item minimum before they can make the item available online.

Thanks to Trevor Charles we managed to get some drone footage of the event we thought y’all would enjoy:

Due to the diligent and detailed work of Dave Thompson, PVI2022 results are now posted on ScoreReport.net: Girls Division, Boys Divisions

Dave also wanted to pass on this message:

To all the teams that were at the PVI – I hope that you will find some use in scorereport, and that you will enter in all of your games and scores from this season.

If you click on your team name, you can access your schedule and enter in other games. See below for how to access your team record.

ScoreReport is a very, very useful tool, not just for seeding at tournaments, but to get a sense for how much youth ultimate is being played.

It also gives people at your school a sense of how “real” a sport Ultimate is. Just having a national rankings makes it feel more legitimate to a lot of people (I know, superficial, but still exciting). If all the schools you play use it, that would be great for you, and for the larger ultimate scene. The more games that are in the system, the more accurate the rankings are, as well.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Dave

Sunday night update

What. A. Weekend.

Lee & Josh!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that made PVI2022 such a phenomenal success. From the unreal ultimate to the staggering amount of volunteer work, we couldn’t be happier with how things turned out.

All game results are now online in the tournament spreadsheet. If you see anything that looks off, please let us know.

Spirit Awards will go out once we track down a few last spirit score sheets.

While the event is fresh in your mind, we’d appreciate it if you took a minute to fill out the Post-Tournament Survey. We’d love feedback from anyone that attended the event, or worked with any team that attended. The more feedback we get the better!

We’d love to see your tournament media! Email us links, or send media directly to josh@pvinvite.org. You can also upload media to us directly at this Dropbox link.

You can order PVI2022 merchandise directly from VC until May 22nd right here!

Mark your calendar: PVI2023 will take place on May 13th and 14th, 2023!

See you on the field.

Saturday night update

What a day! Bravo everyone!

The schedule spreadsheet has been fully updated. Please look it over in detail and let Josh know immediately if you see any issues (josh@pvinvite.org). The overall structure of the tournament has stayed 99% the same, but we updated some round times and field assignments in order to make sure ALL games end by the 3:10 hard cap. (We’re hoping to duck any thunderstorms that may roll in tomorrow in the late afternoon.)

The following teams have not yet submitted a spirit score sheet for Saturday:
Forest +Cape E Girls
ARHS JVB Boys
Blaze Boys
Falmouth Boys
Scarsdale Boys
Forest City Boys

These teams must submit a spirit score sheet for Saturday tonight. The sheet can be viewed/downloaded here. Please fill it out and then email it to josh@pvinvite.org.

All teams need to submit their spirit score sheet for Sunday immediately after their last game. We have to do lots of fast math and we can’t determine spirit award winners until ALL spirit sheets have been submitted. More copies of the spirit score sheet will be available at the tournament central tent.

See you tomorrow!

PVI2022 Captains’ Meeting

USA Ultimate for their continued support, without which this event would not happen!

…and the army of volunteers that make the PVI possible. Please say thanks to all the volunteers you see… they are doing a ton of work! [Have them raise their hands, call them out.]

I’m Josh, I’m the TD. You *may* have received a few emails from me over the past few weeks, months… and possibly years.

This is Karin: She’s the scorekeeper. [617-797-5627.]

Our trainers are:

Mieka Davis [(508) 277-4156]

Sarah Carver [(508) 954-8123] (Sun only)

Please add them to your contacts on your phone..

Find us all during the event and say hi! Call us with questions!

Some number for y’all:

55 Teams, 6 states, 2 provinces, 19 fields, 1,020 players, 161 games, 20 acres, just under 4 miles of painted lines.

The big thing: Know the tournament schedule and program! Know where your team needs to be at what time. Understand how the schedule works. Understand how the event works.

Some important items:

  1. Be careful on Island Road. Drive slow. Only park at the fields. Minimize trips to and from the fields.
  2. Please know the schedule.
  3. Please know the program.
  4. Some of these fields are being used for the first time today since the spring floods, so there could be debris or trash on the fields. Please have your teams line up on the back end zone line and walk the entire field to pick up anything that shouldn’t be there before you start your first game.
  5. Start and cap your games on time.
    1. No softcaps
    2. No horns
    3. Text in your scores to Karin at 617-797-5627.
  6. All games must be played except the Saturday crossover games. Crossover games can be skipped if BOTH teams agree AND they get permission from Josh.
  7. Please set alarms on your phones for hard cap.
  8. No dangerous plays, spiking, poor language, or bad behavior. At all. Just don’t. I will eject your entire team.
  9. Bring full water bottle each day. We’ll have water towers all over the place, but anything you can do to help would be appreciated.
  10. Weather: 5 horn blasts = get to your cars, wait for call/5 horn blasts. Text/@PVInvite/Email will be sent out with updates.
  11. Keep sidelines clear. Nothing, at all — even players! — within 3 feet of any sideline. All hard objects — tents, chairs, must be at least 7 yards from any sideline. That means most chairs and tents will need to be out the back of endzones.
  12. You’ll find water on the sidelines. If your jugs are empty please contact Michael Filas at (413) 320-8836.
  13. Gatorade and extra food is at tourney central.
  14. When you leave a sideline, please leave it cleaner than you found it.
  15. This year, we are banning all disposable plastic water bottles, Gatorade bottles, and single-serve cups. This is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) event.
  16. Opponent late? Assess a point for every 3 minutes they are late.
  17. A chaperone must be with your team at ALL times. You cannot leave your team unattended at any tournament location or event.
  18. Please, please, please return your completed spirit score sheet prompt at the end of your games on Saturday and Sunday.
  19. Please drive carefully on Island road! 15mph at the most!
  20. Thank you sponsors: VC, Henshaw Farms, Friction Gloves, Northampton HS Athletics, and most importantly the Oxbow Marina.
  21. Please make sure you promptly report your game and spirit scores after each round to Karin at 617-797-5627.
  22. We have AMAZING merch made by VC! Make sure to visit the tent!
  23. The next PVI will take place on May 13th and 14th, 2023!

Have an AWESOME WEEKEND!
